Alexandra Bouwmeester — Speech Pathologist

Alexandra Bouwmeester

Director & Speech Pathologist (MSPA CPSP)

Alexandra is a Senior Speech Pathologist with over 14 years of experience, and a mum to two young and active boys. Her experience as a parent deeply shapes her approach — she understands the juggle, the worries, and the joy that comes with supporting a child's development, and brings that empathy into every session.

With extensive experience in the education sector, Alexandra has worked closely with teachers, school staff, and families to address the speech, language, literacy, fluency, AAC, and feeding needs of children. She is skilled in conducting assessments and providing therapy for children from bilingual backgrounds, as well as those with developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other disabilities.

Alexandra is passionate about empowering the people around a child — not just working with the child directly. She has significant experience coaching parents and early childhood staff on speech pathology strategies, helping them embed communication support into everyday routines. She also works collaboratively with other allied health professionals, including joint sessions with targeted, shared goals to ensure your child gets the most connected and effective care possible.

She graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours Class I) and has completed specialised training in Sounds-Write for literacy, PODD for AAC, the Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) approach to feeding, and Hanen It Takes Two to Talk. Alexandra is also committed to supporting the next generation of speech pathologists through mentoring partnerships with UQ, and received the UQ Clinical Education Partnership Award in Speech Pathology.
